JOB POSITION: Certified Pharmacy Technician
JOB STATUS: Full-Time positions working approximately 80 hours per two-week pay period. Shift responsibility: Flexible days, Monday – Friday, working approximately 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Saturday 9:00AM to 3:00PM.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate. Successful completion of a pharmacy technician training course preferred. Must be able to pass a criminal background check. Prior pharmacy experience preferred. Must have above-average computer skills and above-average math and spelling skills. Medical terminology is a plus. Must be an excellent communicator and be able to follow oral and written instructions. Must exemplify a strong initiative and enthusiasm for the position, including a professional demeanor in appearance and ability to communicate, be an independent thinker, have the ability to prioritize, have initiative for the position, accept change with a positive attitude, and be a customer service leader. Epic experience preferred. Board of Pharmacy registration is required.
JOB DUTIES: Assists pharmacist(s) with all non-professional aspects of the department. Accountable for clerical duties for the department. Prepares prescriptions for dispensing by the pharmacist and fills stock replacements. Aids customers and rings register. Makes requisitions for drugs and supplies with professional guidance from the pharmacist. Controls stock: pre-packages drugs; prepares stock solutions and written formulas; receives, signs, and stores stock items. Ensures that all are checked by the pharmacist. Completes requisitions, and maintains files for prescriptions, purchase orders, stock orders, etc. Removes or recommends removal of slow, unneeded, or outdated drugs from stock; prepares for return or disposal. Responsible for the care of equipment. Uses a systematic approach to access and prioritize the needs of the department and the position within their scope of responsibility. Must facilitate collaboration amongst a variety of disciplines to provide a unified and seamless approach to care delivery. This position is responsible for adhering to all standards of care within the scope of duties of a pharmacy technician while promoting teamwork within the department and with personnel of other departments.
