JOB POSITION: Hospital Billing Team Lead
JOB STATUS:
Full-time position. Shift responsibility: Flexible day shift. Working 80 hours per pay period.
VACCINATION STATUS:
Employment is contingent upon becoming fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduate or equivalent. Must possess an AAPC Certification or equivalent certification. Understanding of insurance billing for hospital services with Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial insurances strongly preferred. Experience in medical terminology and medical coding a plus. Must possess excellent computer, office, and math skills and have a firm understanding of the medical billing process including Explanation of Benefits from insurances, electronic and Web billing, and ability to complete money transactions. Must be able to read and follow written and oral instructions and be capable of working well with the public on a professional and confidential basis. Must be attentive to detail and accuracy and willing to cross-train to a variety of coding and billing positions. Must have at least 5 years of hospital billing experience. Epic and Workday experience preferred.
JOB DUTIES:
Works directly with the Director of Revenue Cycle to adjust account and gain approval for Write-offs. Releases bills. Maintains compliance with the payer reimbursement policies and Federal Health Care program requirements. Interacts professionally with patients, providers regarding documentation policies and procedures. Checks patient orders and compares with local and national coverage determinations for qualifying diagnosis, prepares billing records requested by patients, other departments, and other healthcare providers for release. Answers telephone and manages messages and requests. Must be a strong communicator with a focus on confidentiality, quality of work and customer satisfaction. Main point of contact for all Worker’s Compensation claims. Other duties as needed.
