Breast Health Screenings October 13

Women are invited to participate in a special day-long event of breast health screenings at Wyandot Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, October 13 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Free clinical breast exams will be provided by one of WMH’s women’s healthcare providers at their offices on the first floor of the hospital adjacent to the main lobby. No appointments are needed for the screenings, so women may walk in at their convenience.

The hospital’s mammography technologists are providing screening mammograms during the same hours. The mammograms will be billed to insurances or funded by the Breast and Cervical Cancer Project, and participants are welcome to walk in on the 13th or call to schedule if an appointment is desired.

“The clinical breast exam and screening mammograms are both essential tools in finding breast cancer early,” noted Women’s Health Navigator Brittany Thiel, RN.

Thiel said all participants in the clinical breast exams and screening mammograms on the 13th will be entered into a drawing for a gift basket. She organized the screenings in recognition of breast cancer awareness month in October and emphasized the importance of early detection.

“If breast cancer is found early and treated when it’s small and in its earliest stage, the chance for successful treatment is greatest,” Thiel added.
