UrgentCare Expanding Hours February 3

Hospital

Wyandot Memorial Hospital is expanding UrgentCare hours starting February 3.

The walk-in service for minor illnesses and injuries will be open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Saturday and Sunday hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. remain the same.

UrgentCare Director Pam Pagnard explained the new hours will better accommodate busy family schedules and individuals needing medical care on weekday mornings when their healthcare provider may be unavailable.

“We had many requests for morning hours,” Pagnard noted, “so students and workers miss as little school and work as possible.”

She recommended patients phone their provider’s office first to see if same-day appointments are still available, as many leave openings on their schedules for patients with acute illness.

“If feasible, you really want to see your regular provider who knows you and your health history,” Pagnard emphasized. “The provider-patient relationship is especially important for folks in need of prescription refills for chronic or recurring health issues requiring medical management.”

UrgentCare at WMH opened in 2015 for non-emergency after-hours care. It is conveniently located on the first floor near the main entrance of the hospital.

“If someone comes in to UrgentCare that does need emergency care, we can easily escort them to the Emergency Department here since we’re adjacent,” Pagnard said. “That easy access avoids patients driving to another location.”

Pagnard added that anyone needing care will want to bring along their insurance card and any co-pay required by their insurance carrier.
