Hospital Aligns Restrictions with County Alert Levels

Hospital

Wyandot Memorial Hospital aligned its coronavirus disease (COVID-19) visitor restrictions and patient access guidelines with the Ohio Department of Health’s county alert levels.

Wyandot County is currently at Level 2 – Orange, which indicates increased virus exposure and spread, and advises residents exercise a high degree of caution. Any change in levels by ODH can heighten restrictions at WMH to further protect patients, visitors and staff.

COVID-19 Testing at WMH

The Respiratory Illness Clinic – which includes viral testing of individuals experiencing COVID-19 symptoms if clinically indicated – is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the emergency department parking lot. A referral is required from a medical provider or the hospital’s UrgentCare (419-294-4991, extension 2126).

No referral is needed for COVID-19 antibody testing for individuals who believe they previously had the virus and have recovered. This testing is provided as a special outreach project for $60 and no insurance plans are billed. Antibody testing is conducted at the lab’s drive-thru service in the emergency department parking lot. Individuals pre-register for the drive-thru service by phoning 419-294-4991, extension 2291. The drive-thru is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the emergency department parking lot.

Entering WMH

All individuals entering the hospital must use the main entrance (7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) or the emergency department entrance (always open) for screening for fever and COVID-19 symptoms. Cloth face coverings are mandatory and the hospital encourages patients and visitors to bring their own masks.

Patient Appointments

Medical providers are conducting “office” visits in person or via phone or telemedicine. Anyone scheduled for an appointment and experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 is asked to phone the provider’s office for guidance.

Hospital departments are open for diagnostic testing and treatment and taking extra precautions for patient safety.

Patients may bring one adult with them for appointments, testing or treatment. Pediatric patients may have two of their parents or guardians accompany them.

Hospitalized Patients

Patients admitted for inpatient, outpatient surgery, swing bed, observation or emergency services may have one adult visit per day. Hospitalized pediatric patients may have two of their parents or guardians visit them.

In addition to in-person visits, video visits continue to be encouraged, too.

Drive-Thru, Curbside and Mobile Services

The lab is providing drive-thru service for patients Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the emergency department parking lot. Pre-registration for the drive-thru can be completed by phoning 419-294-4991, extension 2291. The in-house lab office is open its regular hours.

The cashiers and staff in both Patient Financial Services and Medical Records recommend non-contact alternatives if possible. The WMH Support Services building at 245 Tarhe Trail is closed to the public, but curbside service can be arranged for bill payment and medical records on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. by phoning 419-294-4991, extension 4862.

Wyandot On Wheels visits communities throughout Wyandot County on Wednesday and Thursday mornings for lab draws and blood pressure checks. The mobile unit also provides on-site JobCare occupational health and other patient care services as needed.

Other Patient Services

The Wellness Center is open by appointment, and the cafeteria and Beca House North are closed to the public and open only for carry-out to patients, their visitors and staff.
