Rheumatologist Joins Wyandot Memorial Hospital

Rheumatologist Elizabeth Russell, MD, joined the staff at Wyandot Memorial Hospital and her office visits are temporarily conducted via telehealth during the pandemic.

Dr. Russell is board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology and specializes in diagnosing and treating more than 100 types of arthritis diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout, vasculitis, lupus, back pain, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia and tendinitis.

Dr. Russell earned a Doctor of Medicine degree and Master of Medical Science from the College of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey at Rutgers Medical School. Her undergraduate coursework was completed at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

The specialist served both an internship and residency in internal medicine at Cornell University Medical College with North Shore University Hospital and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospital. She completed a post-doctoral fellowship in biophysics at Cornell and performed a clinical fellowship in rheumatology at the University of North Carolina.

Dr. Russell has practiced rheumatology in several medical centers and clinics in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois and Florida. She currently serves as a lecturer at the Medical College of Wisconsin, and has held a faculty appointment there and at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Her research interests include paraneoplastic rheumatic conditions, RS3PE Syndrome and inherited diseases of collagen.
