Brooke Distel, RD, LD, of Carey has been named the director of dietary services at Wyandot Memorial Hospital.

Distel is responsible for all aspects of food and nutrition for inpatients, outpatient services and employees and community members dining at the hospital’s cafeteria. She oversees the special diets for patients and consults one-on-one with patients for improved nutrition for better healing and overall health. She also manages the dietary staff and collaborates with other departments for special clinical projects.

Distel is a Registered and Licensed Dietitian. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in food and nutrition from Bluffton University and completed an internship in nutrition and dietetics at Bowling Green State University.

Prior work experience includes serving as campus nutritionist and adjunct professor at Tiffin University, assistant in the OSU Extension SNAP-Ed program in Wyandot County and nutrition assistant/clinical dietetic technician at Blanchard Valley Health System.

In her leisure time, Distel enjoys crafting, camping, volleyball and spending time with family, friends and fiancé Matthew Higgins.
