Orthopedic Specialist Joins Wyandot Memorial

Orthopedic Specialist Diane Von Stein, M.D., has joined the staff at Wyandot Memorial Hospital to provide non-operative orthopedic care for children and adults.

“Wyandot County is where my story began,” Dr. Von Stein shared. “My husband was from Oceola and I grew up in Nevada.

“My medical career started at Wyandot Memorial as a nurses aid,” she continued. “Now as a physician, moving back to Upper Sandusky to continue my orthopedic practice feels right.”

Dr. Von Stein has extensive experience in orthopedic surgery and pediatric orthopedic surgery. Her hospital appointments in Ohio included Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington; Bethesa Hospital, Cincinnati Children’s, Shriners Hospital for Children, Good Samaritan and University of Cincinnati, all in Cincinnati; and Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus. She also has experience as an adjunct professor at the University of Utah and assistant professor at the University of Cincinnati.

Dr. Von Stein was certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery before retiring from full-time practice and holds emeritus status with the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. She was the first female to complete an orthopedic residency at the University of Cincinnati, and traveled to China, Texas Scottish Rite Hospital, Shriners Hospital for Children in Salt Lake City and Gillette Hospital in Minneapolis as a Ruth Jackson Fellow.

Dr. Von Stein earned a Bachelor of Science and Medical Degree from the University of Cincinnati. She served both a residency and internship in orthopedic surgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and completed a pediatric orthopedic fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.

At Wyandot, Dr. Von Stein works closely with primary care providers and other orthopedic specialists, and also receives referrals from the hospital’s Emergency Department, JobCare, UrgentCare and Medical/Surgical Nursing Unit.

“It has been a seamless transition,” she noted, “thanks to the administration and staff.”
