New ER Physicians Start March 1

You’ll see new faces in the Emergency Department at Wyandot Memorial Hospital starting March 1.

EmCare and WMH are partnering to provide top-notch emergency medicine to patients of all ages in Wyandot County and the surrounding communities.

“I have heard from many about their less-than-positive experiences in the past in our ER,” admitted Ty Shaull, WMH President and CEO.

Shaull said the hospital’s medical staff members and administration took that feedback very seriously.

“We listened and made changes to improve our emergency care,” he noted.

Shaull is especially impressed with the credentials of the physicians EmCare is placing at WMH. They are required to be board certified in emergency medicine, internal medicine or family medicine, and have a minimum of 400 hours of emergency department experience within the last two years.

One of the new EmCare providers is not new to WMH: Dr. Mark Wagner practiced in the WMH Emergency Department from 2001 to 2008 with another physician group, and looks forward to reconnecting with staff and community members.

New on-site hospitalists, too.

In addition to ER coverage, WMH also asked EmCare to provide hospitalists for the Medical/Surgical Nursing Unit and Critical/Intensive Care Unit

Shall explained hospitalists are physicians who specialize in caring for inpatients, and the doctors from EmCare will be in-house from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“The expanded coverage will give our patients more access to the doctors caring for them as they recuperate from an illness or surgery,” Shaull added.

EmCare a division of Envision.

Dallas-based EmCare is a division of Envison that provides physicians and clinicians to hundreds of hospitals throughout the country.

“EmCare’s patient-centered philosophy is a good fit with our mission of caring for the health of our community,” Shaull emphasized. “We value their focus on the science of clinical excellence and art of customer service.”

Wyandot Memorial Hospital is a full-service community hospital in Upper Sandusky, Ohio. It opened in 1950 as the county’s only hospital, and continues the long-standing tradition of serving friends and neighbors with exceptional care and exceptional service … every patient, every time.
