Orthopedic Surgeon Cornel Van Gorp, M.D., has joined the staff of physicians at the Specialty Healthcare Center of Wyandot Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Van Gorp provides orthopedic care and surgery for patients with an emphasis on adult hip, knee and shoulder surgery. His special interests include joint replacement/reconstruction, arthroscopy and sports medicine.
Dr. Van Gorp earned his Medical Degree from the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Miami University in Oxford. He served his residency in orthopedic surgery at the Grand Rapids Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Following residency, Dr. Van Gorp completed a fellowship in adult reconstruction (hips and knees) at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. He also completed a fellowship in arthroscopy and sports medicine at The Ohio State University.
Dr. Van Gorp was the Assistant Professor and Chief of the Adult Reconstruction Division at the Medical College of Ohio, and an Assistant Professor and Chief of the Division of Adult Reconstruction in the Department of Orthopedics at OSU. He is currently affiliated with OSU, and chose to practice at WMH after learning of the opportunity through the hospital’s participation in the Ohio State Health Network.
Originally from Switzerland, Dr. Van Gorp’s family moved to Lebanon, Ohio, when he was 16. He and his wife have two children.
Dr. Van Gorp has office hours on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the hospital’s Specialty Healthcare Center, and is available for surgery at WMH several days a week.
