The Wyandot Memorial Hospital Guild donated $785.84 to the hospital for training manikins specially designed for learning cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and practicing automatic external defibrillation (AED).
Jennifer Brown, medical/surgical unit nursing manager (left) and Valerie Schalk, assistant director of nursing (right), showed the new manikins and AED training module to Guild President Jackie Graeser and Immediate Past President Naomi Beard.
Schalk explained that hospital staff decided to purchase Little Anne manikins, which are half-size manikins with all of the essential features necessary for learning adult CPR and AED. The AED Little Anne came with a new AED trainer and trainer pads to simulate AED use.
The new manikins will be used for all CPR training within the hospital and for off-site training at local industries and businesses. Schalk noted that increasing the number of manikins allows for more people to be trained in CPR.
