PATIENT INFORMATION

Bed

Your bed is a sophisticated piece of medical equipment and part of your treatment. It makes periodic adjustments in the amount of pressure on your body. You may hear it while it adjusts to your body.

The bed also can be positioned for your comfort, as well as to assist our staff in caring for you. The bed controls are located on the side rails, and the nursing staff will show you how they work.

Meals

Meals and snacks may be ordered from the Room Service menu located in your room. There are certain medical conditions or diagnostic tests that will limit what you may eat or drink. The nursing staff will inform you if your diet is limited.

Nursing Staff

Your nursing care is provided by a staff of professional, highly skilled individuals delivering treatment under the guidance of your physician. You may call for your nurse by pressing the call button.

Personal Items

Please keep in your room only a few personal items you may need during your stay, such as toiletries, pajamas, slippers, robe and reading materials.

  • Eyeglasses, contact lenses, hearing aids and dentures are easy to misplace. When not in use, they should be placed in protective containers and secured.

  • Please do not keep jewelry, large amounts of cash or any other 
    valuables in your room. If this is not possible, they may be  
    deposited in the hospital safe to be reclaimed upon discharge.

  • The hospital is not responsible for loss or breakage of personal 
    items, or loss of money or valuables kept in your room.


Telephone

Your phone is located on your bed or night stand, and you may receive phone calls unless restricted at your request or your physician’s orders.

  • Family and friends may phone you by dialing Wyandot Memorial Hospital’s main phone number – 419-294-4991 – and entering 2 +  your room number when prompted by the message of the automated attendant. The hospital’s receptionist may also connect calls to your room.
  • To make a local call, dial 8 to access an outside line + 1 + area  
    code + phone number.

  • To place a long distance call, dial 8 to access an outside line, 0 for  the operator, then the area code (if other than 419). Give the operator the billing information when requested (credit card, collect or bill to another number).
  • Calls to toll-free numbers may be accessed through an outside  
    operator by depressing 8 + 1 + 0.

  • Cell phones may be used in the hospital waiting areas, hallways  
    and cafeteria if they do not interfere with medical equipment 
    operating nearby.

Television

Each room is equipped with a television, which is operated from the controls on your bed side-rail.

Please enjoy the channels provided, but respect other patients’ needs for rest and quiet.

Smoking is Prohibited

To protect the health and safety of our patients, guests and staff, Wyandot Memorial Hospital is tobacco free. Smoking or the use of other tobacco products is prohibited anywhere on the WMH campus, including inside buildings, outside of buildings and in parking areas.

Assistance is available for patients who smoke to help them through their hospitalization without smoking. If you would like assistance, please ask your nurse at any time during your stay.

Special Needs

Wyandot Memorial will make every effort to accommodate your individual needs if you have a disability or impairment.

VISITOR INFORMATION

Hours for Visiting

Family and friends may visit you during your stay at Wyandot Memorial, while being mindful of the rest requirements and privacy needs of patients.

General visiting hours for the Medical/Surgical area of WMH are based on individual patient needs. To provide a healing atmosphere that allows for patients’ rest, visitors are encouraged to limit their visiting to between the hours of 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. (The front doors of the main lobby are locked at 9:30 p.m., and opened at 6:30 a.m. Access overnight is available via the Emergency Department.)

Patients in the Critical/Coronary Care Unit may be visited by immediate family members on a schedule arranged with the nurse on duty.

Maternity patients may have guests between 12 Noon – 8 p.m.

Infection Prevention

To protect patients from the spread of germs in the hospital, your visitors should not visit you if they are sick. Visitors should also wash their hands before and after visiting, and cover their mouths when coughing.

Meals & Snacks in the Cafeteria

The hospital’s cafeteria is located on the lower level, and is open

  • Breakfast 7:30 a.m. – 9 a.m

  • Lunch 11:45 a.m. – 1:15 p.m.

  • Dinner 5:00 p.m. – 6:15 p.m.


Visitors may also order a guest tray from the room service menu located in each room.

Vending machines are available 24 hours a day in the cafeteria, and also in the hallway between ER and Patient Registration.

Patient Beds

Visitors should not sit on the patient’s bed, as it is designed to conform and adjust to the healing needs of the patient.

Privacy

Visitors may be asked to leave the room when the doctor, nurse or therapist needs to see the patient.

Restrooms

Visitors may use public restrooms located in the front lobby. Restrooms are also available on the lower level next to the Wellness Center or behind the cafeteria.

Guests may use their cell phones in the hospital waiting areas, hallways and cafeteria if they do not interfere with medical equipment operating nearby.

Waiting Areas

Visitors may wait in the main lobby at the front entrance, the Critical/Coronary Care Unit Waiting Room or the cafeteria on the hospital’s lower level.

The hospital’s chapel – located next to the Lab and X-ray office in the south wing – is also available to visitors.
